ON AN ON are a band that happened as a result of another band, appropriately named Scattered Trees, going their separate ways and a few of the members finding themselves in a studio together (see this older, yet still snazzy, little post for further information). They have been spending their time wisely recording a whole album full of new material, entitled Give In, and are almost ready to release it into the wild, via iTunes.
Just to really whet your appetite, here’s a little something they put on their Soundcloud page.
The drums are a little heavier than on their previous track, Ghosts, and there’s something euphoric about it. The lyrics are rather lovely too; it seems like it’s essentially a little indie knight in shining armour trying to rescue his majestically synthesised princess. It’s one glorious crash, bang and majestic wallop of a song. I really rather like it.
Ghosts, on the other hand, was a little slower with more emphasis on a more natural sound with a bit of a low-fi feel to it. It’s calming, soothing, even. Ghosts is the kind of thing that sounds like it could have come out of the ocean somehow. There’s an undeniably ethereal feel to it.
The tracks and a bunch of remixes can currently be listened to at your pleasure via Rollcall Records. When you’ve finished with those, you’ll simply have to wait very patiently for the album which will be released on 29 January 2013. It’s probably closer than you think; according to John Lewis, it’s already Christmas for fuck’s sake.
