So this crazy mess of upper and lower case letters are a hip-hop duo hailing from Seattle. They’ve done some mixtapes and EPs before now but are set to release their first bona-fide LP, awE naturalE on 9th April in the UK. I don’t really know what they were doing with their caps lock but hey, I suppose it makes sense on some level somewhere.
So, the good news is that NPR have the album available for free streaming, in it’s entirety or track by track, whatever turns you on. Just click right HERE. It’s really quite fantastic, not too heavy anywhere and the production is spot on. I aso quite like the way the vocals just float along on top of the beat. It’s not really exactly like anything else either. On NPR’s website someone left a comment saying “nice to see hip hop without warning labels”, while this is true this record is really quite powerful in it’s own right. Give it a whirl, the streaming won’t cost you a penny.
If you just want a taster, here’s QueenS, the first single from the album, sums up the feel of the whole LP:
…”Whatever you do, don’t funk with my groove.”
