Looking forward

Autumn is now very much upon us and hails with it the return of some of the best artists of recent years.

The first to get a mention is Laura Marling, releasing her new album A Creature I Don’t Know on 12th September. She did aninterview that appeared in The Guardian yesterday: here if anyone’s interested.

For those that want a teaser, here’s Sophia

Next up on 3rd October leslie Feist releases third album Metals, and from the snippets availible it should be a cracker, god knows we’ve waited long enough.

This little mourcel is cruelly short but sounds lovely.

A month later the 7th November sees the release of Florence + The Machine’s new album, title to be confirmed, amidst a lot of hype and reassurances from insiders that there isn’t a weak track to be found on the whole record. After all, Florence has been holed up at Abbey Road all summer so there are a lot of people expecting a lot of magic from one of the best songwriters Britain has to offer, then there’s that voice of hers.

Who knows, has the best of this year’s new music been saved for last? I think we’re all hoping so becuase up until this point the majority seems to have gone out of it’s way to disappoint. What’s more these three are seasoned professionals! Anna Calvi aside, where are the new showstoppers going to come from? It’s only the second day of September and I’m already looking forward to next year.
